In the words of Tina Fey, “I want to go to there.” How many times have you thought about packing up the family and just finding some place new and exciting for a few days? A place to get away from it all and just enjoy the scene around you with the people you love. It’s your “AWAY” – your zen spot. Or maybe more than one spot. Maybe an entire adventure stretching across the map. But, you’re tired of sitting on a plane for hours, being cooped up in a tiny car for miles and trying to squeeze everyone in a hotel room.

When you skip the lines and hit the open road in a spacious motorhome, you can experience vacation in a whole new way.  Here are 8 Reasons To Go RVing This Summer.

1. Cut Down On Hassle & Cost

As much as we love traditional travel, sometimes surprise hassles can ruin your trip. Flights get canceled or delayed and hotels can overbook or stick you in a room that doesn’t look anything like the photo you saw online. Any of which can leave you standing and wondering, “What now?” The fees for those services can add up quickly as well. Tickets, baggage fees, hotel expenses and eating at restaurants can double your vacation bill in no time. RVs are an affordable way to merge your travel and lodging for less hassle and without worrying about a missed connection.

2. Choose Your Own Adventure

Unlike a flight and hotel vacation where your destination points are predetermined, traveling in an RV allows you freedom to go where you will. Your only schedule is when you start; everything after that point is totally up to you and your family. You can map out a route or go off the beaten path. Add side excursions, or stop whenever you like along the way and experience locations you didn’t even know existed until you drove into them. It’s a constant adventure that you control.

3. Take What You Love With You

If you’ve ever woken up in a hotel and thought, “I really wish I had my favorite _____” then you understand how vacation is always missing a little something to make you feel at home. This is especially true for the kids. Favorite toys, blankets, pillows and other things that help them rest or relax can become cumbersome and go way past the allowed carryon size. When renting an RV, you have full space to take your favorite home comforts with you. No restrictions, no extra baggage fees.

4. More Convenient

As adults we’re more adjusted to having a schedule for just about everything while traveling – including personal tasks like bathroom breaks, washing hands or taking a nap in a lobby chair when we get tired. Unfortunately, when your 5 year old says “I have to go potty!” they don’t mean after the plane takes off or at the next rest stop. Running across the airport when you’re carrying a sleeping 3 year old is not fun….especially when your gate is on the other side and your connecting flight leaves in 4 minutes.  With an RV you never have to make an emergency stop. With built-in bathrooms and beds, you can do both on the go.

5. Food Freedom

With hotel vacations you have two choices: eat out constantly or grab items from the overpriced snack shop downstairs. Either way, you have limited control over how fresh, or healthy, your meals are. When you travel in an RV, you can bring your pantry with you. You can have healthy snacks on hand at all times or cook your family’s favorite breakfast each morning – fresh from the pan. If you run out of a meal staple along the way, you can stop at a farmer’s market and restock or even grab local fruits, veggies and baked goods to sample something new.

6. Bring Your Furry Friends

Are you tired of paying extra so your furry family member can come along? Or maybe you’ve been told they can’t stay at all. Your rented RV can handle it. Fido or Fluffy can ride along in comfort, peek out the windows at the countryside going by, and have a good run at every stop. No more crates or kennels.

7. Travel Time Becomes Family Time

It’s hard to just relax together when you’re spending an entire day hopping flights and checking into a hotel. The kids can get bored and the parents can get cranky. Imagine if you could spend all of your travel time playing games, reading books, snuggling to watch a movie and more. You can in the comfort of an RV. Travel time becomes additional family time, unplugged and relaxed.
