Girls Night In: Featuring Acai Drinks & Treats

By Kenda -

The one down side of spring is spring break itself. What, you need to work? Sorry, the kids are home and it’s your job to entertain them. If you don’t then you’re going to have a bad time. Once the chaos of a full house for a week has passed and you’re back to the pleasure of hearing nothing but echos as you work (or rest…rest is good) it might be a perfect time to grab a few friends and have some fun. No reason to pack up the car though, because you can have a great time with a Girls’ Night In.

Drinks & Treats

What’s up with the uh-kai…uh-sigh… berry things? Don’t worry about how to pronounce it, just worry about the benefits of chomping these super little berries.

Brazilian natives discovered the healing properties of the acai berry thousands of years ago, as they found it boosted their energy when consumed regularly. […] it has so many compounds that make the body both feel and look better from the inside out. Its combination of antioxidants, amino acids and omega fatty acids all help slow the aging process by boosting immune and metabolic function and removing destructive free radicals from our bodies. It’s not just the healthy properties that are super though, the flavor is also out of this world. They are perfect for recipes like this Triple Berry Smoothie – Recipe and photo by Ruthie at What’s Cooking With Ruthie.

The berry is a crazy mix of blackberry, blueberry (or raspberry) and chocolate. It’s like the dessert gum from Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. So what better way to destress and kick off your shoes with some girlfriends than by serving up a drink featuring acai juice (like Trop50 Raspberry Açaí) and some sweet treats as well? Refresh yourself and replenish your body with a nutrient boost.

Girls Night In Ideas

So you’ve got your cold beverages and you’ve got your sweets. What are you going to do? Here are a few ideas to liven up the party.

  • Chick Flick marathon – pull out all the movies your better half refuses to sit through. Now you can cry over the heartbreaking ending without guilt.
  • Way Back Night – Remember all those crazy outfits and hair styles you had in high school? Everyone can tap into their retro selves with a ‘remember when’ costume theme.
  • Swap Party – Has your friend been begging to borrow your red heels? Have everyone bring over a bag of items they love and then swap with others for the week.
  • Teach Me How To – It’s almost guaranteed that each friend has a talent that others could benefit from. One friend may be a master at waxing eyebrows, while another knows how to organize a monthly planner. Share the tips with each other and you’ll not only have fun, but learn something too.
  • Friend Charades – Put a spin on this classic party game by placing cards with friends’ names in a bowl. You have to act out the person and everyone guesses which friend you are.

No matter how you choose to party hard with the girls, it’s always great to get together and keep your friendships (and your sanity) alive.

What is your favorite activity to do with just the girls?
