And Then I Woke Up To This…

By -

I thought I was getting the rare opportunity to sleep in. Typically, my three year old will make plenty of noise when he wakes up because he wants out of his room right that moment. I’m a light sleeper so I hear him the second it starts. This morning I opened my eyes to see the clock displaying 8:30 and thought a miracle had happened. There was still no noise – not a peep – so I thought he’d finally started sleeping in.

Not hardly.

My mother’s spidey sense started tingling so I went to check on him. I found out he’d been up quite a while….experimenting with his hair gel, baby lotion and other varied liquids we keep out of reach. Nix that….other varied liquids that we THOUGHT we kept out of reach.

Don’t let the ‘flexible hold’ fool you — there’s nothing flexible about it. It’s the hair cream we use to keep a 3 year old’s hair spiked for hours… Which also happened to be covering his face, hair and clothes….and was already dry by the time I found him.

‘Oh this gate will keep him out of the closet. He can’t move this. There’s no way.”
Famous last words.

    • SO much fun. And my husband wonders why I give him a death glare every time he says, “Don’t you want another one?”

  1. I’ve scrubbed twice so far and the carpet is still white. We may need a steam cleaner :/

  2. Anne Lehnick

I remember doing goofy stuff with bathroom items when I was a kid. I think it was like experimenting. My son wakes up before everyone and makes a colossal mess with toys and such, but he doesn’t ever think to go in the bathroom (yet!)

  3. LOL! At the moment it probably wasn’t very funny.. but it will be a fun story to tell later in life!
