It’s so easy to forget that your computer can crash at any time. Working online, my entire career is on one machine and I am horrible at doing manual backups. I’d been meaning to get an external drive for some time, but I just never got around to it. Add it to the long list of ‘shoulda done that’. Luckily, I was able to try one out thanks to Seagate.

With the holidays coming soon I’ll be adding even more important photos with each passing day. I’d hate to lose even one of them so I’m going to store copies on my Backup Plus. The installation is so simple that you don’t even need a user’s guide. Simply plug it in and everything is there; ready to go. It only took me about six minutes to fully install my desktop manager. The transfer speed was also handy: I averaged almost 2GB per minute. It also ran perfectly in the background. I was able to continue with work, email and more without any lag or annoying ‘are you sure?’ popups. Afterwards you simply eject it like your other flash drives and tuck it away until you need it again. Worried you’ll still forget? You can also set up a backup scheduler. Leave your Backup Plus connected to your computer and it will automatically update your backup with new files as often as you specify. This drive is literally ‘set it and forget it’.
Back AND Forth
Not only can you pull files from your computer and store them on your Backup Plus, but you can also upload. I don’t mean back to your computer either. This drive can connect directly to your Facebook, Flickr or YouTube for lightening fast uploads.

If you’re like me you’ve got one foot in social networking every day. I’m constantly uploading photos from my phone, Instagram and more. When you decide you want to share those photos with more than your social network it can be tedious. Click…save…click …save. And let’s not even talk about how annoying it is to email 100s of photos to yourself from your phone. Ugh. With the Backup Plus, you can save all of your social network photos with ease. It’s also great for backing up entire Flickr albums as well.

The Backup Plus (as seen above) is barely bigger than my cell phone. I can easily place it in my purse, overnight tote or work bag. The 1TB drive is big on the inside – small on the outside. Good bye desk clutter!
