About The Book:
Fast approaching her 30th birthday and finding herself not married, not dating, and without even a prospect or a house full of cats, Renee Greene, the heroine of Click: An Online Love Story, reluctantly joins her best guy pal on a journey to find love online in Los Angeles. The story unfolds through a series of emails between Renee and her best friends (anal-compulsive Mark, the overly-judgmental Ashley and the over-sexed Shelley) as well as the gentlemen suitors she meets online. From the guy who starts every story with “My buddies and I were out drinking one night,” to the egotistical “B” celebrity looking for someone to stroke his ego, Renee endures her share of hilarious and heinous cyber dates. Fraught with BCC’s, FWD’s and inadvertent Reply to All’s, readers will root for Renee to “click” with the right man.
In the age of online interaction, there’s no denying that the internet is a hot spot for romance. Be it casual flirtation or life long connections – people are meeting online. I met my own husband online seven years ago through a social network so there definitely are success stories. But I also tried a few ‘dating sites’ prior to that. I’ve seen the good, the bad and the ugly.
Reading about Renee’s foray into the world of online dating was definitely a familiar trip! She wants so badly to meet Mr. Right and, instead meets Mr. Rude, Mr. Ego, Mr. Frat and more. At first the story is very light and comical. I found myself rolling my eyes when she ran into some of these men. But I was impressed with the fact that Renee’s own errors and flaws are brought to light as well. This isn’t a ‘men online are cads’ tale. On the contrary. It was a humorous look at how both men and women struggle to find love even when technology replaces a casual run-in at the coffee shop.
I especially enjoyed the varied personalities of her friends (read: cohorts) Mark, Ashely and Shelley. I admit, Mark drove me batty (I am just not that organized….ever…about anything), but it balanced out well with Ashley’s insecure baiting and Shelley’s raging libido. The four come together to create the perfect mix and display, once again, that you need all kinds of people in your life to get by.
Click is a laugh out loud journey that will find you staying up til the wee hours of the morning, curled up with your reading light. But it’s more than just finding out if “Fly1227″ is everything he says he is. You’ll be just as caught up in the personal network between friends who share arguments, clashing personalities, but most of all support.
