DreamWorks Press: Dragons’ is a groundbreaking, premium interactive story app based on the world and beloved characters from DreamWorks’ Dragon franchise. Following the launch of their publishing division, DreamWorks Press: Dragons is the studio’s first self-published story app, allowing readers to train their own dragons, explore unseen lands, and become the lead character within brand-new Dragon tales.
Dragons is a clever combination of storybook, movie and first-person game. The story starts off after a shipwreck and you come to realize you don’t remember who you are or why you’re clutching a bag that carries a dragon egg. During the course of the first installment of the game, you travel different areas of Berk along with Hiccup and Toothless. You hatch your egg only to find that the baby dragon has escaped! Can you catch him and train him?
During the storytelling portions of the game, children will be delighted to see the characters ‘come to life’ and move on the screen as the narrator reads to them. There are also short film segments of flights, Toothless and Hiccup and more.

The app allows you to create up to 3 identities so that children can share one app and not lose their place in the story. You can also select the appropriate reading level: ages 5 and under, 6 to 8, and 9 to 11. If your little dragon trainer isn’t reading yet, never fear – the entire story is narrated and each word is highlighted as it’s being said; helping children identify words while they have fun.
The app is the initial installment in a series for which subsequent chapters will become available, continuing the reader’s adventure with Hiccup and Toothless.
The app is available on iTunes for $4.99 with later chapters retailing for $.99 this fall.
