Let me just say I am LOVING the trend of more frequent animated films. The wit, the unbelievable artistic ability of the artists and the voice talent is phenomenal — and FREEBIRDS definitely fits the mold. Or should I say breaks it?

Turkeys. Time travel. Revolution. The only way this movie could be more awesome is if they threw in Liam Neeson as a pig that flies a fighter jet. But, let me explain…

Two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks…er…coop? Do turkeys live in coops? …anyway..ahem….Voiced by Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson, must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change the course of history. Their mission? To get turkey off the Thanksgiving menu forever. They’re joined by the lovely Amy Poehler and the absolutely amazing George Takei (as S.T.E.V.E.). Now, don’t let the absence of a big, hoity-toity animation company scare you off. Reel FX Animation Studios and Relativity Media are award winners who have also brought in two powerhouse players with Jimmy Hayward directing (Horton Hears a Who!) and Aron Warner as executive producer (Shrek).
