Glossybox July Unboxing

As a Glossybox ambassador, I have been introduced to so many new brands that I wouldn’t have known about or noticed otherwise. I love when that pink box arrives on my doorstep. This month was no exception. All during the weeks leading up, Glossybox had sent me sneak peeks of what would be coming.

July’s box doesn’t have a stated theme, but it’s there all the same. This box was full of ways to rejuvenate your skin and hair. I had a blast trying out the five new products and now I can share my thoughts with you.

• PHILIP B / PH RESTORATIVE DETANGLING TONING MIST [2 fl oz sample / $12 value]
  This little bottle surprised me. This is a lightweight blend of essential oils and apple cider vinegar. Let’s cut to the important question: Does it smell like vinegar? Yes. When I first sprayed it on I thought, “Oh no….I smell like a pickle!” and I was on my way to lunch. But, never fear, as your hair dries – the smell goes away. Once you get past the temporary scent, the effects are fantastic. With all the heat and humidity, my natural curls were frizz central as soon as my hair was dry. Poof for days! After using the Philip B – not even an issue. My hair was shiny, soft and WOW talk about some curls! It made my hair look like it was still a little damp – you know that phase where your hair is perfect right before it goes crazy dry? It held that all day. Bouncy, shiny …this is definitely on my ‘to buy’ list now.
• MITCHELL AND PEACH / BODY CREAM [1.4 fl oz sample / $14 value]
  I didn’t like this cream at first. I’d say I hated it for at least the first seven minutes after I put it on. It’s one of those scents that changes as it absorbs into your skin. At first it smelled stuffy and old. But, as my body warmed it, it turned sweet and soft. It’s infused with honey, organic cocoa and Vitamin B5. I didn’t feel like it was super hydrating, but it wasn’t sticky either, so it’s a great every day lotion.

  Have you ever tried to smell your own lips? You will after you put this balm on. Super smooth gel covers your lips and soaks in. Then you get to smell Mojitos all up in your face. Delicious! It’s chock full of fatty acids that nurture your lips and it’s color and Paraben free. Grab one. Seriously.
• GLAMGLOW / YOUTHMUD TINGLEEXFOLIATE TREATMENT [0.5 fl oz sample / $20 value]
  Before using Youthmud I read a ton of reviews proclaiming this as the best mud mask ever created, and I thought “wow, I can’t wait to try this stuff”. Then I read the ‘tingle’ part. That made me pause, but I don’t have sensitive skin at all and I already use a warming scrub that feels like a sauna on my face (awesome) so I wasn’t worried. I put the mask on with a smile.Now, the directions say to leave it on for 10 minutes. That wasn’t going to happen. In less than 2 minutes my face was on fire. I don’t mean a little uncomfortable. I mean GET THIS STUFF OFF MY FACE NOW. I know…lots of capital letters, but this stuff hurt. I couldn’t wash it off fast enough. Literally. It took forever to rinse because it’s also chunky. There are pieces of stuff in it that I later found to be tea leaves, but in the meantime I felt like I’d grabbed a handful of forest dirt (twigs and all) and rubbed it on my face. It also clogged my drain. Bonus.
• SKIN INC / CUSTOM-BLENDED SERUM [0.34 fl oz FULL SIZE – $45 value]
  I received all three of the serum versions, though regular subscribers received one. I don’t think I’ve been using them long enough to see any obvious enhancements to my skin. However, they are very cooling and moisturizing. I love putting any of the three on right after I’ve scrubbed my face in the hot shower. It’s like an instant soothe for my skin and leaves my face soft afterwards.
