HARD ROCK HOTEL ORLANDO REVIEW

Last week I got to live like like a rock star during my stay at the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Studios Orlando. I have to admit, I was horribly tired when I arrived. My first flight had been delayed twice and then my luggage ‘lost’ for over an hour once I arrived. Pulling up to the grand front entrance of the Hard Rock Hotel was a welcome sight at almost 2 a.m. in the morning. I was dreading the check-in process, but I shouldn’t have even worried. The staff got me ready for my room in a matter of minutes, with constant smiles and even saying, “I can tell you are beat. Let’s get you to your room as fast as possible.” I can’t remember the last time a hotel front desk moved that quickly.

The lobby was big and beautiful with six front desk attendants, a separate concierge and plenty of sitting space if you happen to arrive when the lines are long.

I went straight to my room, ready to kick off my shoes and relax. I was given a Pool View Standard room which was equal to many deluxe rooms I’ve booked in the past with 375 square feet of stylish decor featuring two queen beds.

I was thrilled to see that they offered my favorite appliance – a Keurig coffee brewer – in room. Complimentary Newman’s Own K-cups are delivered every morning as well. If you travel often you know that even the smallest thing can annoy you. For me it’s not having enough sugar and creamer for my coffee. The Hard Rock must have read my mind because both were in plentiful supply. You do have to take the elevator to the second floor if you need to grab some ice. But, if you’re already comfy and don’t feel like making the trip, you can simply dial the Star Service and a fresh, cold bucket will be brought to your door.

The standard rooms offer a full bath with mirror in addition to a second sink with lighted vanity and side mirror. That’s good to know when I come back and bring Dan with me. It’s nice to be able to get ready together and get out the door to your destination on time. Another unique perk is that the staff came into my room not once, but twice each day to tidy up, replenish supplies and deliver clean towels. That came in handy since the 100+ temperatures that week required two showers a day. Each time I returned the room looked fresh and clean.

When you have some downtime, you can’t help but explore. The rich colors and cutting edge decor draw you in. Music memorabilia meets you around every turn with autographed guitars and clothing worn by musicians from around the world.

Unfortunately, my schedule didn’t allow me time to have a nightcap at the Velvet Lounge. But it’s on my list for next time.

Spending the day at Universal Studios can really bring on the hunger pains. The Kitchen offers a wide variety of American cuisine and comfort food – perfect for any time of the day. Even The Kitchen keeps the rock n’ roll theme with kitchen memorabilia from stars covering the walls – including celebrity aprons from their visits to The Kitchen when they prepared a dish for guests!

Traveling with little ones? They’ll love the Kid’s Crib with fun activities, cartoons and toys to play with while you can finish your meal without having to rush.

But, what is a stay in a luxury hotel without a little room service? My BLT was absolutely magnificent. If you think all BLTs are created equal, you haven’t had this one. Maple smoked bacon, crisp lettuce and juicy tomatoes; I could hardly finish it. They brought me not one, but two sodas and a full bucket of ice. That should have been enough, but I was tempted by the extravagant chocolate (with chocolate chips!) triple layer cake. Service was quick with less than 30 minutes wait time. You can check out the room service menu here.

The Hard Rock Hotel Beach Club is an oasis in the hot summer heat. If you aren’t up for splashing in the crystal clear water you can sunbathe on the roomy patio or stretch out in a cabana while the kids play in the sand. The poolside bar and grill ensures that you stay fed and hydrated with a variety of snacks, drinks and exclusive Hard Rock cocktails.

Overall, my stay at the Hard Rock Hotel and Universal Studios Orlando was serene and luxurious. The staff were always ready at a moment’s notice to offer information and assistance when needed – and with a smile, no matter the hour of day or night. You can’t walk down the hall without a friendly ‘Good Morning’ or ‘Have a great day” from every member of the staff; from the concierge to housekeeping. Who knew the rock star lifestyle could be so relaxing and friendly?

  1. Wow what a gorgeous hotel!! I so want to stay there. Plus I love that they have a Keurig in the hotel room. Because we usually bring ours when we go on vacations via car… I hate when I can’t have it with me.

It looks amazing! I have always wanted to stay at a hard rock. I think I will have to try it when the kids are older :)
