Since I was a little girl, Sleeping Beauty has been my favorite Disney movie. Not because of Aurora. Not because of the Flora, Fauna or Maryweather. And Prince Phillip is a hunk and all, but…nope. Not him either. It’s for that dark fae, the Mistress of All Evil – Maleficent.
Next week, May 19 – May 21 I’ll be behind the scenes and privy to one of the most eagerly awaited movie releases in years.

The trip will include the film releases of both MALEFICENT and PLANES: FIRE & RESCUE. I was lucky enough to also cover the Planes premiere last year, so this is going to be an amazing experience all around.
The day I received the press invite I think I stared at my computer screen for five minutes straight without moving or making a sound. Then I exploded into a song and dance that, had there been anyone else home, would have made quite an entertaining scene.
I’d like to think it looked something like this:

But, it probably looked more like this:

Of course I’m dying to know if Angelina Jolie will make an appearance. Interviewing her would be even more spectacular. So far it’s all a mystery so you’ll have to stay tuned and follow along to find out which cast members we get to meet! Along with an early viewing of the Maleficent movie (I can’t wait to review it for you guys!) and interviews with film makers, there will be several other stop-ins along the way.

I’ll also be attending a special press day at Disney Toon Studios for PLANES: FIRE & RESCUE (opening in theatres on 7/18) to speak with film makers and attend a drawing demonstration with animators. I’ll also get the chance to step into a recording booth and put my own voice with one of the characters!
While there, I’ll be interviewing Julie Bowen who plays the voice of “Dipper”, but you may know her better from her roles in Modern Family, Happy Gilmore and Boston Legal. Then I’ll be off to an exclusive Disney Consumer Products and Disney Store product presentation and tour at Disney’s Glendale Creative Campus so that I can give you all the sneak peeks of new product lines coming out for both films.
Myself, and 24 other bloggers, will be guests at the Sheraton Universal Hotel. So keep an eye out for my in-room review as well!

There are more fun activities to keep us busy while we’re there and I’ll fill you in as we get closer to the event! For now, here’s a photo of my traveling companion. I call her “MiniMel” and I have a feeling she’s going to be photobombing me along the way. Keep a watch for her – she’s tricky! You never know where she’ll turn up!
