I’m 40. It doesn’t hurt much to say it out loud, not really. I feel great, I’m moving and doing. I don’t feel 40. Then I sit in front of the mirror in the morning. Ouch. That’s when I can truly see my age. My skin is getting dry and dull, my jawline and eyes are starting to lose their tightness, and wrinkles that I used to be able to hide easily are now very visible…and multiplying. While this isn’t something that depresses me or affects my day, I still want to find ways to stop the progression – or at least slow it down.
My newest skin care adventure is Meaningful Beauty, from Cindy Crawford. This system is for both protecting and renewing your skin. The treatments contain antioxidants to fight free radical damage, vitamins to enhance radiance, and marine extracts for intensive moisture and firming.
If used as directed, Meaningful Beauty formulas were designed to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, brighten your complexion, renew skin’s vibrancy, and protect from further damage.
That sounds pretty good. So, I’m going to give the system a trial run and see if the claims match the results.
Meaningful Beauty: In The Box
My review box is the 30 day Introductory System and came with 7 treatments, plus a skin polishing brush. Guides, cheat sheets and product information booklets are also included.
- Skin Softening Cleanser 5.5 FL OZ – Cleans, removes makeup, and helps maintain pH balance.
- Antioxidant Day Creme 1 FL OZ – SPF 20 broad spectrum protection, hydrates, firms, with antioxidants
- Creme de Serum 1 FL OZ – Reduces look of wrinkles, increases hydration, firms, tones and smooths
- Lifting Eye Creme 0.5 FL OZ – Firms, smooths, brightens, reduces puffiness, and is antioxidant-enriched
- Glowing Serum .27 FL OZ – Boosts dull skin tone, firms, hydrates, and creates a skin glow
- Skin Brightening Decollete & Neck Treatment 1.7 FL OZ – SPF 15, brightens appearance of dark spots, antioxidant-enriched
- Wrinkle Smoothing Capsules 7 capsules – Targets facial expression lines, smooths, plumps, hydrates, and fights free radical damage

I’m going to follow “Cindy’s Daily Routine” which is provided on a card included in the package. I want to get the best results possible, so I’ll be following the recommended plan as follows:
Morning Routine
Step 1: Skin Softening Cleanser
Step 2: Wrinkle Smoothing Capsules & Glowing Serum (Glowing Serum isn’t on the plan sheet, but it’s for brightening your skin so I’m going to use it at the start of the day.)
Step 3: Antioxidant Day Cream
Step 5: Lifting Eye Cream & Skin Brightening Decollete Neck Treatment
Evening Routine
Step 1: Skin Softening Cleanser
Step 2: Creme de Serum
Step 3: Lifting Eye Cream
Yes, those are a lot of steps. It’s twice as much time as I typically put into my skin care each day and it’s a bit daunting. But, my skin is still suffering so maybe that’s the problem – I don’t take enough time with my routine. The bottom line is: if it makes my skin healthier and more youthful then it’s worth the time. However, this might not be practical for every woman. If you have 10 minutes to rush out of the house each morning, you may have to concentrate on the evening routine.
What I Like So Far
No Heavy Scent – I love good smells in my hand lotions. I do not like it on my face. All of the Meaningful Beauty products in this box have a very light, almost imperceivable, scent. There is a touch there, but it’s crisp and clean, not heavy or artificial.
Plentiful Directions – The guides and “cheat” cards included not only tell you when it’s best to use each treatment, but also what it will do and why. If you purchase skin care products at the store (which I typically do), you’re given a very brief description and then you’re on your own. I feel more confident with this system, knowing that I’m following intended directions for the best result.
No “One Thing Does It All” Approach – I like having each targeted area assigned it’s own treatment instead of several functions in one tube or bottle. I like the idea of layering the treatments and letting each “settle” in the skin before moving on. Each target area of your face needs specific things to help repair it. For women my age, slapping on a generic daily moisturizer might make you feel hydrated for a while, but it isn’t going to tend to those specific areas like under your eyes, dark spots, etc. You can also order each item separately, which is great if you find one or two items really work for you, but not the rest.
What I’m Worried About
The Steps – As much as I do like the separate treatment options, it may not be convenient for everyone. If you want to use this system properly, you’ll need to schedule time, both morning and evening. I am fortunate that I do have that extra time in the day, but it could create a burden for some people.
You only get 7 Wrinkle Smoothing Capsules – If this is to be a 30 day package, the capsules will be gone in one week. I wish all of the treatments lasted the same length of time. I may experiment with using the capsules only twice per week to see how far I can make them stretch without losing effectiveness.
