I can still remember sitting up all night playing Spyro. I was absolutely hooked. Unfortunately my eldest prefers a completely different style of gaming and my youngest isn’t old enough for video games yet. But, thanks to the introduction of Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, all ages could enjoy mixing toys with gaming. Now Mega Bloks® is bringing that game into the real world with Mega Bloks® Skylanders Giants™. My junior builder was more than happy to help me assemble his new Skylanders Giants™ Zeppelin Air Assault set.
About the Zeppelin Air Assault Set:
Grab the cannon and take aim – Eye Brawl needs to shoot down an attacking Drow Zeppelin with Zeppelin Air Ship Assault by Mega Bloks Skylanders GiantsTM. The buildable Drow Zeppelin is an aerial menace to Skylanders everywhere. Eye-Brawl’s got his eye on it and needs to use his cannon to shoot the Zeppelin down to deal with the collectible translucent Troll Greasemonkey pilot.

I have to say that Little Man isn’t quite old enough to play alone with these guys. It’s safe for 3 and up, but recommended for 5 and up. He’s usually up for a more advanced toy than most 3 year olds, but this time he needed some help. I’m not worried about him eating the pieces (I feed him often enough) – But, it’s a 133 piece set (with many pieces that are 1 cm or smaller) so I had to handle 99% of the assembly and he excitedly pushed a piece into place here and there.
His favorite part was how the characters hold their own weapons and the harpoon that actually shoots. I think he spent half an hour just shooting the characters over and laughing hysterically.
Once assembled the set is fairly secure (meaning it took at least 20 minutes for a toddler to take it all apart – which any parent of a toddler knows is a miracle) so I’m sure an older child (who is past the ‘hey let’s throw all the pieces!’ stage) could play with this set without fear of losing important parts.
