Over the past few years, home exercise has become increasingly more popular with parents everywhere. You can search online for ‘home exercise videos‘ and find everything from yoga to ‘kick your booty’ strength training right in the comfort of your living room. But, what about the kids? Children need as much, if not more, exercise daily for healthy bodies and minds. Mom and Dad don’t always have the time to pack up and drive to the park or gym – so there may be days when kids find themselves on the couch. Finally, there is a fun and energetic video series just for them.
Move ‘n Groove Kids
Developed by Deborah Damast, a leading dance education expert, Move ‘N Groove is a new, creative movement DVD set for children ages 2 to 7.
Move ‘N Groove includes live-action classroom-style interaction with amusing music, text and animations. Move ‘N Groove Kids was created to enable children to develope healthy living habits and also promote problem solving and coordination. This system not only builds up physical abilities, but also teaches team work, vocabulary and science. Each exercise also encourages self expression with a ‘do your own thing’ style of direction. And, of course, it guides kids through a fun adventure of dancing, jumping stretching and more. The perfect thing for ‘inside days’.
Move ‘n Groove offers three DVDs – “Volume 1”: live-action, classroom-style learning with entertaining text and character animations that no child can resist! “Move ‘n Groove Kids Go To The Zoo” – Follow along as they learn their animal A B C s, make new friends and rescue Munki when he gets into trouble. “Move ‘n Groove Kids Go To The Park” – Follow along as they ride bikes, throw frisbees and row boats.
Each DVD is approximately 30 minutes long. Check out the TRAILERS HERE!
At first I didn’t know for sure if my 3 year old would be that excited. He’s not big on paying attention and often wanders away even during his favorite movies and shows. Considering he watched Move ‘n Groove Kids Go To The Park SIX times in just the first day – I think it’s safe to say I was wrong. There are short intermissions between exercises (for cool down) where kids learn about sports, animals and more. My toddler sits still and actually listens; waiting for the next fun activity. His absolute favorite part is at the end when he gets to play the Freeze Dance game. Now, even when the videos are put away, he hops around the house like a frog or asks me to ‘row a boat’ with him in the hallway. It’s awesome!
