I love the winter time. I really do. I mean, how could you not love the beautiful snow and sparkling ice that decorates the from view every morning. Ok, we don’t have that …yet. It’s been just cold enough to be uncomfortable, but just warm enough to stave off any lovely snowfalls so far. This is the type of winter that actually gives me more cabin fever than the kind that buries you under the snow drifts.
When cabin fever sets in, some people get out and go places. That must be nice, I have to say. I wouldn’t know because having a toddler and only one car puts some, shall we say, restrictions on your impromptu travel plans. So what’s my solution? Interior decorating. On days like this I can always find something, be it small or large, that I can change, order or otherwise update in my house.
Last week, when the day ran below 30 degrees and I was meandering around the house, I decided suddenly that we needed a new splash home shower curtain. I know, not very glamorous right? Well you haven’t seen our current (or, now previous) shower curtain. Blue. That’s as fancy as the description gets, people. It was a plastic, blue shower curtain. The best part? No other part of the bathroom is blue. So I amused myself by hunting down a designer (oh la la!) shower curtain. Oddly enough, that little adventure lead me into the bedroom when I went to check the colors of the clean towels waiting to be folded on the bed. In turn, that lead me to notice how we’d recently put up new winter curtains in a gorgeous chocolate color…..right next to the dresser lamp with the red shade. Eww. So guess what I did? Yep, set my sights next on new stiffel lamp shades. Not that anyone but myself and my husband ever sees the bedroom – but I’m ocd. So sue me.
Actually, if my husband could have sued me – he would have. I’m lucky enough to have a husband who enjoys decorating and sprucing up the house. The only down side to that is how annoyed he gets when I make a decor purchase without him. I think once the shower curtain and lamp shade arrive he’ll be okay with it. I do have awesome taste. Besides…he can’t get too upset since I found out he’s been surfing the storage cabinets Lowes has on sale. Did I mention we don’t need a storage cabinet?
Uh huh. I am SO buying something pink next time just to see the face he makes.
