I’m sharing how to prevent the flu this cold and flu season featuring Zep as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #ZepSocialstars
After battling “Snowmageddon” here in Massachusetts, now we get to revel in the beginning of Spring. Melting snow, the animals come back out, the warmth returns….and getting sick. It’s officially cold and flu season, not just here but everywhere. Just when you’ve started packing up your winter coat, it’s time to pull out the tissues and cough drops. Yuck.

Here at our house, we try to battle the germs before they can get us. We open the windows to circulate the air, wipe every surface to eliminate dust-induced sneeze fits, make sure to take our vitamins, and even replace our toothbrushes so we can start the new season feeling great.
Other Great Ways to Combat Cold & Flu Season
As daunting as this time of year can be with kids sneezing and parents sniffling, there are ways to improve your chances of finishing the winter in good health. One of the best weapons against Spring illness is to always wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth unless your hands are clean. When a sneeze or cough does sneak up on you, always make sure to cover your mouth with a tissue or place your face against your arm to stop the spread of germs.

Stop Germs and Viruses At Home
One major step in keeping your family healthy is to make sure you stop germs and viruses before they spread by keeping household surfaces disinfected. But is soap and water enough? The CDC recommends** EPA registered, hospital grade disinfectants, with a label claim for any of several non-enveloped viruses (e.g. norovirus, polio virus, rhinovirus). In our house that means Zep Commercial Cleaners.
Quick Clean Disinfectant and Antibacterial Disinfectant Cleaner with Lemon both meet the CDC requirements for hospital grade disinfectant. When you use the manufacturer’s instructions on the product label, Zep Disinfectant Sprays clean, deodorize and kill 99.9% of bacteria in just 5 seconds*. Additionally, Quick Clean kills flu and Rhinovirus, cause of the common cold. Zep disinfectant sprays are safe on virtually all hard, non porous surfaces. I use it to disinfect my kitchen counters, sinks, stove top, appliances, bathrooms and floors. I even spray a bit on a damp cloth to wipe down my desk, cell phone and keyboard.

More Than Cold and Flu Prevention – Zep disinfectant sprays also kills HIV and Canine Parvovirus. Use it to clean up pet messes and more.
* Bacteria refers to: Staphylococcus aureus (Staph) and Klebsiella pneumonia
