My family incorporates donation and public service into our lives in many different ways. One of our most regular activities is creating donation boxes and gifts for our local outreach, The South Worcester Neighborhood Center. THe SWNC collects clothing and food for needy families, classes that teach cooking and job skills for adults, offers organized recreation for neighborhood youth and much more. Typically our donations consist of used clothing and toy items. This time, by partnering with Champions for Kids and Spinbrush® for the SIMPLE Service Project, we were able to do a little bit more this time and offer healthy smiles and a few special treats.
We shopped at Walmart for Spinbrush® Kid’s, children’s toothpaste and additional fun items like a cup to hold their new brushes in the bathroom, fun sunglasses (because their smiles are going to be so bright!) and sugar free candy for a treat. Thanks to donations from family and friends, we were also able to include puzzles, markers and coloring books to complete the fun packages.
In total we donated 25 items for the boys and girls at SWNC. Why am I counting? Because for each ITEM you donate Spinbrush® will make a matching donation of up to 1,000 Tooth Tunes™ toothbrushes (total) through Champions for Kids to help children in need! It really is a SIMPLE Service Project.
So how can YOU help? it’s SIMPLE.
1. GATHER your community to collect fun toys and colorful children’s items (like books, games, blankets, and toothbrushes)!
2. COUNT the number of items you collected and take photos!
3. DONATE the items to a local hospital, shelter, or foster care agency in your community to give kids hope, comfort, and fun in challenging situations.
4. DOUBLE your impact by reporting your project at championsforkids.org/share during the month of July 2013. Let us know how many people were involved and how many items you collected, and Spinbrush® will make a matching donation of up to 1,000 Tooth Tunes™ toothbrushes (total) through Champions for Kids.
