It’s officially wedding season, and you know what that means—lots of bridal showers coming up! If you’re stuck putting together a bridal shower for one of your girlfriends, take a deep breath and get ready for a crash course in budget shower planning. With a little help from our friends at American Bridal, you’ll soon be throwing the bridal shower of the century without breaking the bank! Here are some tips for a successful and affordable shower:

Budget: First off, ask your fellow bridesmaids to help plan (and split the cost of) the shower with you. Together, you’ll be able to plan a great event, and it won’t feel like such a huge undertaking. Bonus: more hands to help with the set-up and break-down of the party!
Location: Ask around to see if any of the bride’s friends or family members would be willing to host the bridal shower at their house. Make sure their home is large enough to hold a medium-sized gathering…this will eliminate the cost of renting an event hall, and will maintain a casual setting!
Invitations: Don’t spend money professional invitations…DIY invitations are more personal and more cost effective! You can easily find packs of shower invites to fill out that are cuter than the printed ones, and get the job done just as well!
Food: Instead of shelling out the big bucks for party platters or a caterer, throw a potluck shower. Send out recipe cards with the invitations and ask guests to make a special dish for the party…have them bring along the recipe, and put all of the cards in a cute recipe box for the bride so she can recreate the meals for her hubby!
Favors: If you decide to give out favors, keep them cost-effective. Consider giving out an edible favor that won’t collect dust on a shelf or end up in the trash. Make cake pops or cookies, and dip them in chocolate and colorful sprinkles. Wrap them in a cellophane bag with a cute ribbon, and top them off with personalized “thank you” labels! Voila, favors in a snap!
