It’s the start of a new year, and that means millions of people around the country are making the decision to lose weight and get healthy. “An estimated 45 million Americans diet each year and spend $33 billion annually on weight loss products. Yet, nearly two-thirds of Americans are overweight or obese.” [1] So what does that tell us? It’s easiest to assume that the plans simply don’t work. But, according to Integrative Neurologist Kulreet Chaudhary, M.D., our weight loss failures may often be the result of our bodies not being prepared for the change.

In her new book, The Prime, Dr. Chaudhary shares with readers the unexpected side effect of how she treated the dietary habits of her patients: easier, more reliable weight loss.

“A truly integrated behavioral approach to health and healing. For anyone who wants to understand the future of wellbeing and medicine this book is a must read.” – Deepak Chopra, MD, FACP

The Prime examines how many are dieting “backwards” and, to truly see your weight loss potential, you need to prepare your body and rid it of the things holding you back – first. According to Dr. Chaudhary, many people have weight as a result of the body being in a toxic, inflammatory state. They are fighting an uphill battle based on biochemical problems the don’t even know about, much less have addressed.  methods don’t require expensive shakes or mail order supplements. It incorporates healthy eating with natural herbs, teas and retraining how you see food and food addiction.

You’re probably wondering, “Does this even apply to me? I just like to eat.” The answer is: It might, wouldn’t you like to know for sure? We can only inspect our bodies from the outside. When you see a little bit of pudge around your belt, or your jeans don’t fit quite as well as they used to, we all assume it’s fat. I shouldn’t have had that extra slice of pie. I need to start running. All these things run through our minds, but it’s all based on an outside perception. What if what you think is fat… isn’t really fat at all?

Do You Have Fake Fat?

Puffy fingers, yo-yo weight, cellulite and more…does it sound familiar? It may actually be Lymphatic backup. Lymphatic backup looks and feels just like fat (soft, like a water balloon), but it fluctuates from morning to evening or throughout the menstrual cycle. If you can gain five pounds overnight (or lose five pounds in a week), you are probably plagued with “Fake Fat”.  Do you have it? Check out THE FAT QUIZ to see if your symptoms match up.  Stage One of The Prime can show you how to boost your body’s efforts to move lymph and reduce that fake fat so you can move on to actual weight loss.

Is Your Gut Sabotaging You?

So much of our weight loss or gain is dependent on our stomachs. Often, it’s not so much what you eat as it is how you digest it. Are things working properly or is your whole system getting backed up? The GUT IQ TEST walks you through a series of questions that will tell you just how “smart” your gut is. Once you have your score, you can find out how many weeks you should spend on each Prime stage.

The 4 Prime Stages

Most people see weight loss in 2 stages: Eat less, exercise more. That’s it. The Prime shows how there are 4 stages to successful weight loss, and NONE of them are the weight loss itself – that’s a side effect of “priming” your body. To do that, Dr. Chaudhary recommends the following 4 stages:

1.       Activate a Biochemical Shift – making your colon and lymphatic system more efficient

2.       Crush Cravings (No Willpower Required) – learn to shift your eating pleasure from harmful foods to those that are good for you

3.       Ignite Energy and Fat – Increase your digestion’s productivity to clean out fat and toxins

4.       Biohack Your Lifestyle Habits – Learn how your day affects your weight and what you can do about it

In The Prime, Dr. Chaudhary not only explains why dieting “backwards” can be beneficial, but she also walks you through the explanation and activation of each Prime step.

“There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all diet, not to mention a one-size-fits-all detox.” – Kulreet Chadhary, M.D.

The fact that you are you and not anyone else is a continuing theme in The Prime, and main feature of how you approach the Prime method, hence taking the quizzes before you get started. No matter if you fall into the Gentle Track, Moderate Track, or Fast Track – The Prime still addresses your personal needs, pace and problems.

Through natural, noninvasive measures – such as herbal teas and massage – along with brain power – like rethinking your weight loss and how your body works – The Prime can help you see your need to “diet” in a whole new way. If you feel as if you’ve hit a roadblock with your weight loss, no matter what you’ve tried, you may benefit from the 4 stages of The Prime.

The best part is, even if it turns out that your weight loss is due to something outside of these issues, going through the Prime stages still has the potential to make you feel better. I think we could all use some feel better days, don’t you?
