From a very young age, I read everything I could get my hands on. My mother likes to say I was born with a book in my hand. It wasn’t just books, however. It was also shampoo bottles, magazines, billboards and more. I had a natural, and strong, love of all words. If they told a story that was even better. So, when I had my own children I knew I wanted to instill in them the very same love of reading. With both of my sons, I started reading to them as soon as they were born. As they grew, I told them about all the places they could go and adventures they could have just by turning a page. Luckily, both of them latched onto it as strongly as I did and now their rooms are full to overflowing with books of all kinds.
It’s Never Too Early – Even infants pick up the rhythm, tones and inflections of your voice, says Kenneth Wible, MD, of Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City, Missouri. Research shows that the more words a baby is exposed to, the better prepared he is to eventually start reading on his own. – Parents.com
Scholastic knows all about reading, no matter if it’s early exposure or advanced self reading. They asked me if I’d like to share some of their books with my son and with you. You can imagine I hesitated for oh…about 3 seconds. Of course! I couldn’t wait to expose him to even more imaginative word play.

We dove right into our new book collection and enjoyed every moment. We read a new book each night… ok. We were supposed to read a new book each night, but he decided on his favorites pretty quickly. We had to read those a few times, but we finally reached the last page of each with smiles and laughs. The best part? Thanks to introducing him early, he can already read many of them all by himself.

Of the five books, our favorite was If You’re a Robot and You Know It, by bestseller David Carter.

This is a fun pull-tab action book that gives a brand new spin to the classic “If You’re Happy And You Know It” song. Only this time, you’re happy to be a robot! My six year old loves the robot celebrations on each tab like stretching your limbs super long and flying away. more info
