Tortuga Rum Cakes – A Taste of the Caribbean {gift guide}

By -

Tortuga is known around the world for their gourmet selection of Rum Cakes. Tired of fruit cake during the holiday season? This year why not give the gift of  Tortuga Rum Cakes.

In 1984 Tortuga Rum Company, Ltd. introduced the first rums of the Cayman Islands. Originally it was as a souvenir to the rapidly increasing tourist and cruise passenger business. But, in 1987, they introduced the now world famous Tortuga Caribbean Rum Cake and became infamous for the smooth, sweet tropical taste. By 1990 the demand for Tortuga rum cakes was so high that they expanded their bakery and became the Caribbean’s first commercially produced rum cake ever. Now Tortuga Caribbean Rum Cakes are the #1 export of the Cayman Islands and named the 2012 “Best Cruise Souvenir” by Porthole Cruise Magazine for the eighth consecutive year.

My husband travels often to the Caymen and surrounding islands for work and he always brings back treats for me. What treats, you may be wondering…. Tortuga, of course! I love when he gets home and I get that package of delicious rum cakes and Tortuga rum coffee. I can’t think of a more decadent evening treat after a long day of work. The rum cakes come in several flavors:

  • Caribbean Original
  • Chocolate
  • Coconut
  • Banana
  • Coffee Rum
  • Key Lime
  • Pineapple
  • Gold Bar
Also available are Florida Rum Cakes, coffees, sauces and chocolates.

Tortuga also offers a wonderful selection of gift collections for your holiday shopping list such as the Golden Gourmet Gift Basket, the Tortuga Picnic Pack, and more.
